UPDATED 03-04-2008 1. Attendance
1.1 Making the Race: If you are unable to make 3 races in a row, you will loose your car/truck number If you have had a medical emergency, or other event, keeping you from racing each week, it is important to let the League Admin know ASAP. 1.2 Provisional Points: A provisional start, You will receive provisional points for up to 3 races after which you will NOT receive points until you race again. You will not receive any VIRTUAL MONEY for provisional's but the weekly operating costs will be applied whether you make the race or not.
2. Practice Sessions
2.1 Purpose: Practice sessions are to be used to make adjustments to your race car, and to work with traffic in different situations, among other things. At no time, for any reason, is anyone allowed to use practice as a play session, or as a way to manipulate or wreck another driver purposely. Anyone using practice for this purpose will be removed from the race. 2.2 Practice Incidents: If you are involved in an incident in a practice session, promptly remove your car from the racing line, and/or enter the pits immediately. It is important to make room for those practicing. Try not to stop in the middle of the track.
At anytime during the race you are over aggressive trying to take a position from another driver and cause that driver to wreck. You will get penalized for your actions. Over aggressive driving is :
Using apron
Going lower or higher than the groove or preferred line causing you to push up or slide down across them. Or bumper to bumper contact...
These actions fall under the same penalties as Section 3.1 UPDATED 3.1 Starts / Restarts: After the pace car leaves the track, and heads for pit road, ALL CARS will maintain pace speed until the spotter announces the green flag. No acceleration is permitted prior to the leader starting. NO jumping or hitting drivers that are maintaining pace of the leader on start/restart. Jumping is when you are on the inside of the person in front of you at or before the start/finish. also if you are more than .04 seconds behind the person in front of you it WILL be considered laying back. It will be the same penalty.DO NOT overdrive the car/truck into turn one. If you are overdriving your car/truck into turns on starts/restarts and cause a wreck you will have to serve a penalty. There will be no more restarts for not getting the first lap under green in the 3 series either. If you cause 2 or more wrecks, PARK IT! 3.2 Starting Lap: Prior to the drop of the green flag, the field will maintain a .2 - .4 second gap to the car in front. 3.3 Track Aprons: These areas are not to be used to make a pass, or gain a position at any time during a race. If you must use the apron to avoid or get around a wreck, do so with care. Aprons are used for entering and exiting pits only. This is for Super Speedways. For all other track if you use the apron and cause a wreck refer to section 3.13 for penalties 3.4 Lapped Cars: 3.4a: If you are unable to race at the leaders speed, to possibly get your lap back, give way to those on the lead lap. Do not race drivers that are not on the same lap as you. Use Auto chat to let drivers know where to pass you (high or low). 3.4b:. If you lose connection and were as fast as leaders you may race the leaders for laps back. DO IT WITH CAUTION. Don't wreck leader or lead lap cars trying to hard to get a lap back. Refer to section 3.7 for more on this. 3.5 Entering Pits: When entering the pits, drop to the bottom groove and slow down making sure to enter the flat portion of the pit entrance at a safe speed so you don't spin up onto the track in front of oncoming traffic. Be sure to let the other drivers know what your intentions are by using Auto chat. Use the outside driving lane in the pits until you reach your pit stall. 3.5A: During a caution; If a driver is pitting and you are not, DO NOT SLOW FOR THE DRIVER THAT IS PITTING... Maintain pace speed NO EXCEPTIONS!!! DO NOT CAUSE A DRIVER BEHIND YOU A BLACK FLAG.. You will not get a black flag if you pass the driver that is pitting if you are not.. 3.5B: PIT COMMIT LINES. Most tracks already have a commit line and some do not. For tracks with a pit commit line use it. Without a line go 100 or so Yards before every pit lane is a commit line once you have passed that point you may not re-enter the track. You must pit!!! 3.6 Exiting Pits: When exiting the pits, use Auto chat to let the other drivers know that you are exiting the pits. Stay below the white line and enter the track on the back straightaway, making sure the track behind you is clear. Just because the spotter says "merge when you can" doesn't mean it's necessarily safe to do so. Stay low until you are up to speed. 3.7 Less than 10 to go: When there is a caution, with 10 laps or less in the race, ALL lapped cars must enter pit road when pit road opens for lapped cars. Drive at pit road speed, exiting the pits after the lead lap cars have gone past pit road. This will line up all lead lap cars in front, with lapped cars following. Lapped cars can stop in their pit stalls at their own discretion, but it is not required. 3.8 Warming Tires: A driver may warm their tires during a pace lap of a caution. However, if it causes an incident, penalty points will apply. 3.9 Blocking and Racing Lines: In online racing it is important to give room to the drivers you are racing against to ensure clean and FUN racing. If a driver pulls up inside or outside you but does not have there front tires up to your rear tires there not entitled the position. The passing driver MUST back out and wait for a better chance to take the position. You cannot drift out or chop down on another driver if you do NOT have the proper positioning alongside the driver in front of you. Unlike real racing, the blind spots are much larger and the collision detection is not perfect. We are all racing for FUN and nobody needs a race ruined by someone driving too aggressive. If someone gets by, then get them back the next corner(s), do not run them off course. The passing driver must also show some restraint and make sure the opportunity to pass exists. A last minute, out of control lunge inside another driver that results in you getting your front wheels inside their rears as they turn in for the corner in no way justifies you the racing line. The key to remember is that if a person isn't visibly ahead or in your mirrors, you MUST assume they are beside you and give them their lane. Drivers may NOT block during the race. Blocking is defined as a change of line that oppresses a pass. However, when there is 2 laps or less to go, drivers may block as they wish to retain their position, only without risking or causing an incident. 3.10 Damaged / Off the Pace: If you are damaged excessively, or your car is off the pace (unable to maintain full race speed), drivers are required to give way and the preferred racing line to those drivers who are at full race speed. If you know you will be slow on a restart, you may go down pit road on the last pace lap under a caution, to avoid possibly causing an incident on the restart (you are not required to stop in your pit stall). Damaged cars that are slower than 20+ mph then the leaders must retire. 3.11 Time to park it: If any driver has 2 cautions during the race must park it for the duration of the race. Don't wait to be told to do so!! Failure to do so will result in a DQ and ZERO points and EARNINGS for the race! Don't park in your pit stall and watch the race....you must retire! You may ask for a replay review 3 .12 Burnouts: Absolutely NO burnouts at the start of the race or any other times except for when celebrating a win!! Penalties for all above sections: 3 and 3.1...If you jump the start once you can receive a black flag. If you do it twice you WILL be scored as the last car on the lead lap and a 25session point deduction and 5 APS points. If you cause a caution two times due to overaggressive driving you will not be allowed to QUALIFY IN THE NEXT EVENT. More than twice you will receive an automatic 10 points on APS and a One event suspension. If you penalize yourself by pitting you may not receive the suspension. Each wreck will be reviewed for proper penalty Section 3.3: Using the track apron to advance your position has been outlawed in the Nextel Cup for sometime in Super Speedway racing. And we hold the same standard here at XNSRL. Using the apron to take a position during the race will get you a black flag at any and all Super Speedways, Daytona, Talladega, Michigan, Eight Bowl etc. Only if you are blocked down there may you continue advancing your position. If you use the apron and do not receive a black flag during the race and it is caught on replay. You will lose 50 points. Using the apron at all other tracks is not illegal unless you cause a caution from it. If you cause a caution you will receive 5 APS points. Section 3.4: Lap cars that can not maintain an average race speed will be required to park your car. The average speed should be 20 to 30 mph from leader. Less than 30 you MUST park it. Failure to do so will cause you to black flag then ejected form that race. Curtain tracks required more or less speed use your best judgment.
Section 3.5: Failure to pit after the 100 or so feet commit line will result in a end of the longest line penalty. You must enter the pits on the very next lap and stay there until every car has left the pits(or the pace car puts you a lap down). Not just lead cars. If the one to go comes out before you can yield you penalty you may wait untill the next caution. If there are no more cautions you will be scored the last car on the lead lap at the end of the race . Section 3.7: Failure of lap cars pitting will result in being scored the last car on the lap you are on.
Section 3.9: If you are seen blocking during the race you will first get a warning, Second you will be told to serve a end of the longest line penalty and final warning you will get black flag. If you cause a caution while blocking you will need to park it for the night..
4. Cautions
4.1 Racing to the line: UPDATED 03/04/08 When a caution flag comes out, you may not race back to the line. If you in the process of passing another vehicle and you are side by side you may complete your pass without penalty. The other driver will need to know that you intend on finishing your pass. Once the pass is complete you must slow for caution. This will be a gentlemen type agreement if both parties can't agree then the scoring will stay as is prior to the caution. In no way is a lap car allowed to pass a leader. Even if the leader invites a lap car by for what ever reason... We use the Lucky dog rule:. Once the caution flag comes out you will be required to either keep a safe race speed that does not advance your position OR slow down/check-up to avoid running into a person or persons wrecking. If you run into someone that has lifted to avoid an accident and you had, what is considered, "enough time" to slow. It will be considered a "avoidable accident" You will receive APS for such actions. You should ALWAY be aware of your surroundings. Never take anything for granted. Section 4.1a Lucky Dog Once the caution flag come out and you are the first person 1 lap down you WILL be the lucky dog. Unless that person was the cause of the caution that will put the driver on the lead lap.In order to make sure you receive the lucky dog you MUST follow these directions... 1. You must pit, DO NOT LEAVE!!!! Wait until the last car has left. If a car goes into the pits and is not on the lead lap you MUST RUN INTO THE PITS AGAIN!! This will avoid anyone getting a black flag for passing you or lining up behind you and losing time.. 2. When you get the one to go DO NOT LINE UP ON THE INSIDE!!!! You will be receiving a lap from the admin and you will get an unfair advantage if you line up inside of lead lap cars. If you do not follow these directions you will not receive the lap. The admin will tell you to pit if you are the lucky dog. Don't question him or you will not get it. Its very simple, follow the directions and everyone will be fine.
4.2 Stagger: During the caution, the field will maintain a staggered pace line. Odd position cars will maintain the inside line, even position cars will maintain the outside line. (This does change if a lapped car is in front of you) The leader of the pace line will maintain the inside line and the cars that follow will stagger accordingly. When the "one to go" message is given, and lap traffic lines up on the inside, the lead lap cars will maintain a single file line on the outside.
4.3 Pace Gap: At all times, while under caution, and prior to the drop of the green flag, the field will maintain a .2 - .4 second gap to the car in front, including the pace car.
4.4 Taking the Caution: When the leader takes the caution flag, the leader will maintain race speed until the exit of turn 2, at which time the leader may slow to allow the pace car to catch up to the field. A minimum of 20 mph must be maintained by the leader at all times. At no point is the leader or any other driver to stop or slow dramatically after taking the caution. The rest of the field will maintain a .2 - .4 second gap, staggered behind the leader. You can pass the pace car when taking the caution flag and then slow on the backstretch to let it catch up. NO driver is allowed to slam on the brakes after passing the start/finish line when taking the caution flag, or to stop for the pace car, prior to catching the rest of the field. 5. Chat: There will be NO use of abusive words or swearing in game, on the forum, by email. This includes all foul language and abbreviations. (e.g. wtf) There will also be zero tolerance for any type of personal attacks on another driver(s)including race, creed, national origin or sexual preference. If you have any issue with another driver you are to email admin directly to deal with the situation. Drivers are still entitled to calmly discuss any race incidents amongst themselves if they can keep it civilized and within the outlined guides. "Refer to section 8.4 for violations" this, means God D*** It also. Please be considerate to everyone. Drivers found to be flaming or using foul language will be immediately ejected from race and a 50-point deduction from the respected series. 5.1 Practice Session Chat: Chatting is permitted during practice sessions. 5.2 Qualifying Session Chat: Chatting is NOT permitted during qualifying sessions. Once the Warm-up session begins, congratulations to the pole sitter, and other chat, may once again begin. 5.3 Warm-up Session Chat: Chatting is permitted after the drivers meeting. Do not talk or chat over the Admin. If you do it may be grounds for you to leave the server. Unless told otherwise 5.4 Race Session Chat: Chatting is NOT permitted during race sessions except for caution laps. During the cautions absolutely no chat until every driver has pitted. Except to discuss position when a yellow flies. Only the programmed Auto-chat messages will be allowed during the race. NO CHATTING WITH ONE TO GO ON VENT OR CHAT SCREEN.... NO EXCEPTIONS! This includes typed messages such as: "I was booted, what happened?" "Thanks for nothing" "Why did you hit me?" "What was that driver?" "I'm out of here" "I can't get out of the pits?" "Hi there" You may chat during caution flags but Not until every driver has made there pit stop....keep it to a minimum and keep it relevant to the race! 6.1 Tolerance: Flaming of any type will not be tolerated in any form. Drivers meeting's, race sessions and practice sessions are not places to show your frustrations toward any driver or group. If you flame anyone you will be removed from the league and any league in the XNSRL Racing Group! 6.2 Examples of Flaming: Below are some examples of what is considered flaming. There are numerous forms of flaming, and if it is found that your message is considered flaming, you will be ejected from the race. If you have a difference with someone, take care of it after the race and privately. "Your a wrecker!" "You can't drive" "Get out of here" "Thanks for nothing" "What was that driver?" "Why did you hit me?" "WTF" 7. Connections 7.1 Minimum Requirements: The minimum requirements to race in the league are cable, DSL, or equivalent. Some 56K connections will be excepted but they MUST be good and not show a considerable amount of warp. 7.2 Warp: If you are showing signs of excessive warp in practice, try to reconnect prior to the qualifying session. If you continue to warp during the warm-up or race sessions, you may be asked to leave the race. The league admin has the right to eject any driver who shows excessive warp, if he feels it will effect the race in any way. 7.3 Booting: Often times you may be disconnected from a race for various reasons. If this happens during the practice, qualifying, or warm-up sessions, you may reconnect. However, if you are booted during the racing session, you will only be allowed to reconnect TWO times. If you reconnect more than twice, you will be ejected from the race, or given a penalty. For technical reasons we will give up to but no more than -1 lap down. The reason for this is there is a possible advantage with fresher tires and lucky dog rule. If a player falls out with people already 2 or more laps down you will be given laps until you are equal to the first person laps down. A player who falls out will have to fight to get back to -1 lap unless he/she is the only one laps down and be eligible for the lucky dog from now on. If you drop more than 10 laps from the race the Admin can decide to give laps back. I will not be mandatory for an admin to give laps back in that case... 7.4 Server Problems: If there is ever a problem with a racing server, it is important to determine the extent of the problem. If you are disconnected, and you are unsure as to why, go to the Sierra chat room East Alpha/League Discussion 1. If East Alpha/League Discussion 1 is not working, go to West Alpha/League Discussion 1. If it is a problem with the server, the other drivers will more than likely show up there. If so, we will then decide what to do in the event of a server problem. If the other drivers don't show, it may have been a problem with just your connection, or some other problem. 7.5 Server Crash or Mass Boot: If a race server experiences a major problem, and/or more than half the league members are disconnected (mass boot), the race may be declared a rain out unless the race was more than half finished and one of the league admin's was able to save the race results before getting disconnected. If the race was not more than half way finished or a league admin was unable to save the race results the race will be declared a rain out and rescheduled for another time, if the schedule permits. 7.6 Provisional for Connection Issues: If a driver qualifies for a race, attends the Warm-up session, but is booted prior to the green flag and can not make it into the race, that driver will receive the points equivalent with the last position in the current race results. If a driver makes practice but is booted before qualifying and can not make it back onto the server that driver must notify a league admin by e-mail before the end of the race in order to receive the points equivalent with the last position in the current race results. 8. Removal 8.1 Voluntary: If a driver decides to leave the league for whatever reason, we ask that you notify the League Admin ASAP. 8.2 Forced Removal: A driver will be asked to leave the league for several reasons. Those reasons include, but are not limited to, consistent rule infractions, failure to appear for 4 consecutive races, consistent over-aggressive driving which results in excessive penalties, flaming, chatting during race/qualifying sessions, or inability to hold a racing line. At any point, the League Admin will remove a driver if he feels it is in the best interest of the league, and/or to maintain the racing environment for the other drivers. 8.3 Intentional Wrecking: Keep your cool at all times on the track. Any driver found guilty of intentionally wrecking another driver, depending on the severity and/or number of offenses, will be removed from the league. 8.4 Conduct Detrimental to the League:Conduct Detrimental to the League is defined as any driver acting in a manner that is detrimental to the image or the quality of the league, it’s members, or it’s races. A driver found to have violated this rule, depending on the severity of the offense, prior history, and any mitigating circumstances, will face verbal warning, probation, suspension, VM fines, and Champ points deductions, or any combination of these penalties. Our league is based on character, and our drivers need to remember that, show the character we expect of them in all dealings with the league, on and off the race server, on the forums, ours and others, and in anything where they bring the name of the league into it. 9. Probation Terms and Conditions: 2008 season has started a new probationary system. Driver put on probation for scoring 15 or above APS will be removed from that series for at least 5 races and required to compete in another series without incident . You may be required to fulfil an entire season in that class until you reach required levels to return to the series you fell from. Other types of probation will go to people who continue to violate rules such as flaming, cursing and intentional wrecking. Drivers put on this type of probation will need to run the duration of the probationary period without a continuing incident. Failing to comply with the terms set by the admin will be cause for time off or removal 10. Saving Replays 1. Pole winners will be required save the replay of there Qualifying laps. You will need to keep it for one week. If you are asked to give it to an admin, you must do so. If you can't produce the replay it will be cause to lose the pole in that race. Possible fines can be added. More may come of this, so keep checking on updates 2. Race winner will be required to save there entire race replay. You will also need to keep it for one week. We may only need clips from it not the whole replay but you must produce the laps that the admin ask for. If you do not produce the replay it may cost you the win. Possible fines and other penalties may be added. 11. Re-Connecting. At no time will you be allowed to exit the server 5 min's before qualifying or anytime after qualifying without the Administration's approval. If you do exit without approval from the admin or co-admin you will be subject to removal for the night's events. If you fall out of the server during this period of time it will be observed and noted. If you have the same issue for more than two consecutive races you will be subject to suspension for the next series race.
